Steps to Certification


1. Take the course. After you complete the course the baton is passed over to the test folks.

2. Register for your proctored exam  for NRFSP a minimum of 3 full days before you want to take it.  Always Food Safe exam may start immediately.  Remember which exam you bought because the directions to schedule the exam are different from each other. The directions are in the class material twice. In the directions, Always Food Safe, AFS, is first and you keep scrolling down the page for NRFSP directions. Chef is unable to schedule your exam or help you with technical issues on their websites or on test day.* (Wisconsin Small Operators your certificate is generated once you pass class. Ohio students your first certificate is generated once you finish the course.)

3. Print out your official certificate from the company you received your certificate from. Chef will not have access to it or be able to get it for you from Always Food Safe or NRFSP.

4. Turn your certificate(s) into the powers of be along with their fee.
